Minor in Psychology

The Minor in Psychology provides a foundational understanding of human behavior and mental processes. Covering areas like cognitive, developmental, social, and behavioral psychology, this program enhances critical thinking and analytical skills.  It’s a great complement to various majors, preparing students for careers in healthcare, education, business, and social services.

Request approval

Once you are admitted to your primary major and have completed Psych 105 you can request to add the psych minor to your plan.

Important to note

  • At least 9 credits of your 300-400 level psychology credits must be taken in residence at WSU or through WSU-approved education abroad or educational exchange courses.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.00 or higher is required in all coursework used for the minor.
  • Per academic regulation 54, transfer credit doesn’t count toward the required nine credits at the 300-400 level.
  • We review admit to minor requests regularly.  If it has been over three weeks since you completed the form, please feel free to reach out to us at psych.advising@wsu.edu.
  • You can easily check your myWSU account to see if your minor has been added. While we don’t send notifications for approval, your account will reflect any updates promptly.
  • Kinesiology majors: Kines 313 Psych Aspects of Human Movement may be used to satisfy 3 upper division credits.
  • Nursing majors: Nursing 424 Psychiatric/Mental Nursing Concepts or 425 Nursing Practice: Psychiatric/Mental Health may be used to satisfy 3 upper division credits.
