Secondary Interests

In my secondary area of interest, I focus on directing the undergraduate TA (UTA) training program for the Psychology department, including the development and teaching of Psych 405 Instructional Practicum Training.
This program is designed to provide students with the skills and best practices of teaching and learning. Prospective UTAs (trainees) learn how to support instruction through grading, feedback, classroom support, professionalism, and ethical responsibilities. Trainees get a behind-the-scenes look at teaching, including how instructors design courses, evaluate student learning, assign grades, and use evidence-based teaching strategies to achieve the learning goals of the course. Additionally, trainees gain transferable professional skills by building experience in communication, organization, and leadership skills that can be used beyond the classroom.
In addition to my teaching and institutional service, I’m active in the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (Div. 2 of the APA), having served on several presidential task forces. In 2026 – 27, I’ll be the Chair of the WSU Provost’s Teaching Academy. I’m also a faculty senator representing the College of Arts and Sciences Career Track faculty. I’ve been honored by the College of Arts and Sciences with the Award for Excellence in Teaching by a Clinical Faculty and the William F. Mullen Memorial Teaching Award.
